Blog Post September 2024

Hi Mamas,

As a mom, do you feel like there aren’t enough hours in the day?! That things are always a bit hectic, that you don’t get through the to-do list, and you don’t make enough (or any!) time for self care?!

This is a common reality for many moms, as we spend years putting children (and our job, house, partner) before ourselves. There is always more to get done, but we feel guilty if we don’t spend enough time with our kids, so we burn ourselves out trying to do all the things, which makes us snappy, which leads to more mum guilt, and failure to do the things we said we would, which chips away at our self confidence. We sit on the couch watching Netflix each night to try and get a minute to ourselves, go to bed too late (creating more snappiness!) and then repeat. Sound familiar?!

Over time, this can result in a feeling of discontent from a seemingly unknown source and the idea that we are surviving rather than living and thriving.

I by no means have this all figured out, some days are a total shit show, and all of these feelings have been there (and sometimes still are). However, I have found that small and incremental changes make a huge difference over time.

A morning routine, an evening routine, alone time, boundaries, time blocking, menu planning, a paper diary, setting and managing expectations, delegating, writing everything down, use of reminders, 5-10 minutes a day on clutter, daily mindset work and exercise have all added up and helped.

Understanding time management and its importance in the all consuming task of being a mom is the key to some semblance of sanity. Moms have minutes, not hours, to spare and spend on tasks, and almost everything can be accomplished in minutes when you understand how. Daily methods help to claw back precious minutes and hours which can be reassigned to self care and alone time, making for happier, more accomplished moms everywhere.

So, let's work on Be[ing] More this week Mamas.

Have a great week.
